Request a Consultation

Tell us enough to run a conflicts check and understand the situation. Keep it brief for now, and leave out confidential detail until an engagement is in place.

Your details
The matter

Submitting this form does not create an attorney-client relationship, and the information you send is not treated as confidential until the firm has completed a conflicts check and an engagement agreement is in place.

Before you send

What to expect

  1. Conflicts checkNothing can proceed until the firm confirms it does not already act for someone on the other side. This is why every other party has to be named.
  2. Follow upThe firm will contact you using the details you provided. If the matter is outside this practice or outside Michigan, you will be told promptly and pointed elsewhere.
  3. The documentsOnce an engagement is in place, the file is read. Property, construction and family matters all turn on the documents and the sequence of events.
  4. Scope and feesAgreed in writing before work begins. You will also hear if the matter is not worth what it will cost to pursue.
Common questions

About the consultation

Is what I send confidential?

Not yet. Until a conflicts check is completed and an engagement agreement is in place, information sent through this form is not protected as a confidential attorney-client communication. Send enough to identify the situation and the parties, and hold the rest.

Should I attach documents?

Not at this stage. Wait until the firm has confirmed there is no conflict and an engagement is in place. Sending documents before then can create problems for both sides.

Why do you need the names of the other parties?

A firm cannot act against an existing client. Identifying everyone involved is the only way to confirm that at the outset, and missing a party is the most common cause of a conflict surfacing later.

What if my deadline is this week?

Call rather than using this form. Matters with a closing date, a lien deadline, a filing deadline or a scheduled hearing are handled by phone.

What does a consultation cost?

[FEE STRUCTURE]. You will know the basis before any work begins.
